A Faraway Star

    I cannot keep from wondering,
    As I gaze into the night,
    What life would be upon a star
    That shines far out of sight.

    I like to think there is a world
    Where men can live in peace,
    And work together in brotherhood,
    Where wars long past did cease.

    O how I wish that star of mine
    Were not so far away;
    That here on Earth such life could be
    On one new dawning day.
